If you were a teenager in the late 80's/early 90's, chances are you've seen The Princess Bride so many times you can quote it. I remember a day in high school when my friends and I decided to see how many quotes from PB we could throw into everyday conversation. I don't know how well they actually fit into our conversations, but it was fun and got us through the doldrums of Junior Year.
If you LOVE the movie, you should really try the book:

Surprised to find out that there is a book? I know... me too. And I was a little leery going into it; I didn't want to read something that the movie was loosely based on and then come away disappointed in either the book or the movie. Or both. But happily, I only came away with fond memories of my favorite parts of the movie, plus interesting backstory on some of the characters and hilarious commentary by the author.
So get it. Read it. I mean it.... Anybody want a peanut?

It really should be "Inconthievable," shouldn't it??? ;-) I may have to take your suggestion--now that I know it's not setting myself up for disappointment. Thanks for sharing!
I love that book. I picked up a copy of it at a library sale years ago and have read it several times since. It really is one of the few books that add to the movie not make you irritated about the things left out. The whole book is tongue in cheek! So funny. We go around quoting The Princess Bride all the time too. No one can say "I mean it!" Without someone else saying back "Anybody want a peanut?".
Dude. "Do you want me to send you back to where you were? Unemployed in Greenland!!!!!!!" I'm not sure if we were ever able to incorporate that one. I'm also not sure why that one sticks out in my mind the most. The horror of being unemployed in Greenland must have struck me very forcibly.
I read this about a year ago and really enjoyed it. And, of course, I love the movie. I actually let my 5-year-old watch it recently and he loved it - especially the fire swamp.
One of my very favorite movies and books. Kaya also loves the movie and can quote it at appropriate times. It was a proud parent moment when I told her, "Kaya, go brush your teeth right now. I mean it," and she responded with a smile, "Anybody want a peanut?"
When I read the book I was happily surprised to find it just as witty and humorous and the movie. One day soon I imagine myself reading it aloud to my kids.
BTW, how are you guys? We're trying hard to move back down there into our house in your ward. Wouldn't that be great?
:) this whole post made me happy!!! I will be reading the book soon!!! "I'm not a witch, I'm your WIFE! And I don't know if I want to be that anymore!!!"
