PR Youth Sports

As I mentioned earlier, Matt started up a free youth sports program for kids in our area, and it has been awesome! He started out with baseball for grades K-3 in the spring, then did Volleyball for grades 3 and up in the fall. Right now we’re in the middle of Cross Country. The response has been so positive, and everyone in the area loves it. It has been such a fun way for our kids to have the opportunity to participate in sports without having to pay an arm and a leg. It’s also been a great way to bring our community together and get to know each other better. Matt is a terrific coach—so positive and fun, but also knowledgeable. Elly and Hite came a long ways in baseball season, and even though it was sometimes hard to catch those grounders or get a good hit, they had a lot of fun. Hite wasn’t quite old enough to do volleyball, but Elly shined as a player on the “Purple Thunder” team. I honestly could not believe how well those kids were able to play volleyball by the end of the season. When it ended all the kids were so disappointed, and I know it’s because they really felt a sense of accomplishment and enjoyed putting their new skills into practice. Now many of them are talking about getting on clubs or school teams. To end the season, many of the families attended the ASU volleyball game together, which was a blast. Rilla especially loved seeing Sparky there ;) One of the best parts about the whole experience has been seeing several of the cousins participate together.
